National Universal Service (SNU): start of the second phase

2,000 volunteers aged 15-16 selected from 4,000 candidates have tested the SNU in 13 departments.

After a first phase of cohesion in June 2019, missions of general interest close to home and corresponding to their aspirations were proposed to them. During the holidays of All Saints' Day, half of them carry out this two-week mission in the army, the security forces or solidarity.

They may, if necessary, continue a minimum three-month commitment period.

Approximately 30,000 new young volunteers (between 100 and 500 volunteers per department) are expected to participate in the second edition of the UNS in June 2020. This time, all departments will be involved. The recruitment campaign will begin in January.

Over the years, the system will become generalized to a whole age group, namely 800,000 adolescents, and will become mandatory.
