Disposable plates, cups (sold in batches), glasses or cotton buds: certain single-use plastic products are prohibited from sale from 1er January 2020 according to Article L541-10-5 of the Environment Code.
Plastic still water bottles in school canteens are also prohibited from the same date (except in areas not served by a drinking water system or where water intended for human consumption is restricted for food use).
A decree issued in Official Journal of 27 december 2019 further clarifies that a single-use plastic product is defined as a product made wholly or partially from plastic and which is not designed, created or placed on the market for re-use for the same purpose as that for which it was designed.
