Exchange of a European permit: an online approach from 3 March 2020

You reside in France and have obtained your driving license in a European country. Exchanging your license for a French license is not necessary to drive in France. But if you apply for a new category of license or if you commit certain road traffic offenses in France, you are then obliged to exchange your license. As of March 3, 2020, the process is online.

Driver's license exam: testing an online registration platform

You are a candidate for the practical test of the driving license or head of a driving school and you live in the departments of Aude, Gard, Gers, Haute-Garonne and Hérault: a new platform allows you to make an appointment online. An order published in Official Journal of 20 February 2020 lays down the detailed rules.

Permit at 1 euro

The "1 € per day license" will only be available to driving schools and associations with the "quality of training in driving schools" label.

Motorcycle licenses: changing from 1 March 2020

Motorcycle Code, Practical Tray or Circulation Tests: The 3 Motorcycle License Examination Tests are evolving to further train future motorcyclists in safety.

Radar cars in Brittany, Pays de la Loire and Center-Val de Loire have been circulating since January 2020.

Motorway Toll Rates

Autoroutes du Sud de la France (ASF), Cofiroute, Autoroutes Estérel, Côte d'Azur, Provence, Alpes (Escota), Business of Autoroutes du Nord et de l'Est (Sanef), Business of Autoroutes Paris-Normandie (SAPN). Toll rates increase from 1^er February 2020.

Technical inspection

It is planned to make available to the public the prices charged by approved centers for the roadworthiness testing of light vehicles.

Pound Pounds

As of November 17, 2020, new rules for car pound come into force in 10 departments. This reform aimed at simplifying the entry, exit and management procedures for impounded vehicles will be implemented throughout the territory by 1^er April 2021.
