Do you want to register a used vehicle in your name or declare the administrative transfer of your car? The mobile application “Simplimat.gouv” allows you to carry out these administrative procedures in a fully paperless manner. After a phase of experimentation in a few departments, this official, secure and free application is now accessible to all individuals residing in France.

When you resell your vehicle to an individual, you must report the transfer of the vehicle no later than 15 days after you physically transferred it. This protects you, as a seller, from notices of contravention related to possible violations by the buyer.

Carte grise If, instead, you purchase a used vehicle, you must have a completed transaction completed in your name within one month of the vehicle transfer declaration.

Carte grise On the Simplimat mobile application, the administrative transfer of the vehicle and the request for the new transit can be carried out in about ten minutes and can be carried out at the same time as the delivery of the vehicle keys, for example. Seller and buyer together complete the assignment declaration on the application, so there is no need to fill in a paper form. Carte grise The buyer can immediately order his new product, also on Simplimat, and obtain his provisional certificate of registration immediately. Carte grise He receives the procedure at home 3 to 4 days later.

The use of Simplimat when selling a car requires that the buyer and seller are physically together and that everyone has settled the app on their phone. Indeed, during the administrative transfer procedure, one of the steps provides for the buyer to scan a QR code only available on the seller’s Simplimat account.

What are the benefits?

Among other things, the Simplimat application avoids the following situations:

  • cases where the seller fails to declare the transfer of the vehicle on the website of the National Agency of Secure Titles (ANTS), thus blocking the buyer when he wishes to register the vehicle in his name. The fact that the seller and the buyer carry out the procedures at the same time, and in the physical presence of each other, also makes it possible to avoid errors in the entry of the information relating to the sale. Such misconduct may subsequently lead to administrative blockages, in particular when applying for registration of the vehicle;
  • cases where the purchaser acquires a vehicle whose administrative situation is not in order. The Simplimat application allows a live consultation of the administrative situation of the vehicle to verify that it is compliant. Where the administrative situation of the vehicle is not in order, Simplimat shall block the transfer of the vehicle. This gives the buyer a guarantee that the vehicle is not stolen, for example.

Please note

the Simplimmat application was tested in 2021 in all departments of the Center Val de Loire and Normandy regions and in the Yvelines. In 2022, she was deployed to the Brittany and Ile-de-France regions. It is now accessible to all individuals residing in France who sell or buy back a vehicle registered in the country.
