Please note

remember to indicate whether your home is equipped with an alarm system or a presence simulator, and whether someone picks up your mail or sprays your plants so that they are not mistaken for a burglar. You will also need to notify law enforcement in case of an early return.

A few tips before leaving

In order to limit the risks of burglary, the police and gendarmerie services advise you to:

  • Do not post your vacation dates on social media or your phone messaging.
  • ask a trusted person to pick up your mail because a full box is a sign of prolonged absence (do not leave the key under a mat or flower pot). You can also have your mail automatically sent back to your holiday resort by the postal services;
  • return calls from your landline phone to your mobile number, if possible;
  • carefully lock doors, windows and shutters. Check the condition of your locks and locks. A neighbor or friend may come and open and close the shutters;
  • do not leave large sums of money in your accommodation and put jewelry, art and valuables in a safe place after having photographed them. If so, have them evaluated by an expert and ask your insurance business for information on the conditions of their protection.

FYI

if you are a victim or witness to a burglary, immediately notify the police and gendarmerie (17) and don't touch anything so that any clues don't disappear.

Advice on your holiday location

To prevent the risk of theft at your vacation location, you must:

  • park your car if possible in a lighted place;
  • do not leave valuables, handbags, bank cards, checkbooks, mobile phones... in your car. Lock doors and close windows;
