In light of the increase in drownings in summer, the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Ministry of Sport and the Olympic and Paralympic Games are recalling the practical advice and behaviors to adopt to bathe safely and practice a water activity safely.

What recommendations to avoid any risk of drowning?
To swim safely
learn how to swim;
always bathe with your children;
choose the monitored bathing areas;
comply with the bathing prohibitions;
Take into account your fitness status.
do not drink alcohol before and during swimming.
In your pool
bathe with your children or designate a single adult responsible for supervision;
do not do anything else when your child is bathing;
don't look at your phone or tablet;
do not leave, even for a few moments;
be particularly careful when swimming in swimming pools
above ground
(not buried): After swimming, take particular care to remove the access ladder and settle safety devices where they exist (alarm, blanket, etc.).
The devices do not replace active, ongoing supervision of children by an adult.
At sea
swim in the supervised bathing areas;
swim accompanied or by signaling your place of bathing;
swim with an open water swimming buoy;
swim along the shore.

The 'Aquatic Aisance' plan
Initiated in 2019 by the Ministry responsible for Sports, the Aquatic recreation is a program designed to give children the basics they need to be safe in an aquatic environment while raising their awareness of the pleasures of water.
This summer, courses and courses are organized under several schemes:

. These courses are free (upon registration and subject to availability). They are mainly aimed at children aged 4-12 in priority neighborhoods and rural areas;

Aisance Aquatique blue classes

In France, accidental drowning is responsible for about 1,000 deaths each year (half of them in the summer), making it the leading cause of accidental death in people under 25.
