Covid-19: French expatriates can get reimbursed for a test done in France

French expatriates who had to make an advance payment to carry out an antigen or PCR test during their short stay in France have the possibility to request reimbursement of their bill if the test was carried out for medical reasons. As of October 15, 2021, COVID-19 testing has been paid for by unvaccinated adults without a prescription or proof of contact. They must pay a minimum of €44 for a PCR test and €22 for an antigen test.

Foreigners who have not benefited from the third party paying for the performance of their test carried out during their temporary stay in France and who have therefore had to make the advance payment of expenses, may request reimbursement of their invoice paid on documentary evidence.

Since 7 July 2021, Covid-19 testing (antigens and RT-PCR) for persons temporarily staying in France and covered by a foreigners social security scheme is covered by the Sickness Insurance scheme only if they are of a medical nature.
