Announced by the President of the Republic on 12 July 2021, the end of the systematic free testing of Covid-19 comes into effect on 15 October 2021. RT-PCR tests, antigen tests and self-tests under supervision will no longer be automatically covered 100% by the Health Insurance. Alone, medical screening will remain free. For unvaccinated adults, PCR tests, antigen tests, or so-called

Since March 2020, nearly 160 million tests have been completed. Currently, more than 2 million tests are performed per week.

Support for testing and supporting documentation

As of October 15, 2021, in order to maintain the testing strategy and continue to monitor the circulation of the virus, supervised testing, antigen, PCR and self-tests remain fully supported without advance fees for individuals:

  • expatriates who are returning to France and who have not been able to receive the additional dose to obtain the health pass, for a period of 14 days after entering French territory (order of 2 December 2021);

  • returning from a country on the orange or red list and required to carry out a quarantine exit test, on presentation of proof of transport and the planned declaration on honor or individual quarantine order.

FYI

The waiver of advance fees (free of charge) is linked to the presentation of the Vitale card to the healthcare professional. If not, the test will be reimbursed by the Health Insurance.

Please note

Since the end of the state of emergency (15 November), tests carried out in French Guiana and Martinique are supported under the same conditions as in mainland France. For Guadeloupe, testing was free until December 6, 2021. For Mayotte, tests remain free until further notice.

As of October 15, 2021, unless one of the required supporting documents is submitted, the cost of the test will be borne by the person.
