Higher education and disability
The My Disability Course website now supports high school students
Publié le null - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
Opened in May 2020, the digital platform My Disability Journey is a single point of entry for information, orientation and services for persons with disabilities. Since 6 December 2021, a new section “Higher education and disability” offers high school students and students with disabilities the keys to encourage them to continue their studies, inform them about possible accompaniments and existing aids. By the start of the 2020 academic year, young people with disabilities represented only 1.82% of students.
Aimed at high school students and students with disabilities, their parents, but also caregivers and information relays (departmental homes for disabled people (MDPH), teachers, associations...), the new section “Higher education and disability” facilitates their daily life. It answers all their questions about the different paths of higher education, the possibilities of assistance, support and accompaniment, the steps to be taken and allows to quickly identify the right interlocutors.
Higher education and disability section
A six-topic heading for higher education and preparing for professional integration:
- Navigating higher education: before and after the baccalaureate, online tools to guide you; equivalences to the baccalaureate; alternating training accessible to young people with disabilities; keys to study abroad and remotely; contacts to guide you.
- Inform me about the steps: enrolling in the first year of study: What procedures for and outside of Parcoursup? What steps beyond the first year of higher education? How to anticipate and prepare your return? First registration of a student with a disability: who can help me?
- Compensate for my disability: human, technical and financial aid; adjustments to competitions and examinations; structures to accompany you during your higher education studies.
- Student life: financial assistance; finding and financing suitable housing; travel assistance to gain independence; health professionals listening to you; student assistance; engaging in sports, leisure and cultural activities; participating in the civic and community life of your campus.
- Preparing for work: what arrangements for successful integration into the labor market? Recognition of the status of workers with disabilities (RQTH): modalities and benefits? How are your needs taken into account at work? How do I find a job in the public service? What accompaniments to embark on your professional life?
- Discover my interlocutors: professionals who can help you find directions, enter the labor force and during your studies.
The section “Higher education and disability” also offers video testimonials.
As part of a user-centered approach, this section was co-built with students with disabilities and parents of future students with disabilities.
