Covid-19: Hospital overtime upgrades

The exceptional compensation and increase scheme is extended for overtime worked between 1er March and April 30, 2022. Hospital overtime pay during the Covid-19 outbreak by hospital civil servants is almost doubled. The extension of this measure is set out in an Order in Council published in Official Journal April 8, 2022.

Compensation and the exceptional increase in overtime is extended for hours worked between 1er March and 30 April 2022 for civil servants and contract staff governed by public law employed by the hospital civil service working in establishments located in the areas most affected by the health crisis. The establishments concerned are:

  • public health facilities;
  • reception and hospital care centers;
  • local public institutions for the elderly;
  • local public establishments and non-legal establishments run by legal persons governed by public law and providing care for minors or adults with disabilities, difficulties of adaptation or chronic medical conditions.

Hourly overtime pay is multiplied by 1.89 from the first overtime worked on 1er March to April 30, 2022.

Compensation for these overtime hours shall be paid by 1er July 2022.

In addition, a decree published in Official Journal of 8 April 2022 extends the scheme for the compensation of additional working time and of shifts performed between 1er March and April 30, 2022 for medical personnel working in public health facilities.

The surcharges applied are:

  • for medical, statutory and contract staff: an increase of 50 %;
  • for teaching and hospital staff: an increase of 20%.

Please note

The increase in additional working time and on-call time was 100% and 40% respectively for the period from December 20, 2021 to February 28, 2022.
