Publié le 19 janvier 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

The ceilings of resources taken into account for the allocation of family allowances in 2024 are increased to 1er January. An order published in Official Journal 28 December 2023 specifies the various ceilings on family benefits paid by the family allowance funds (CAF) or the agricultural mutual benefit funds (CMSA).

Family allowances are paid to persons with at least 2 children under the age of 20. The amount of benefits depends on resources, the number of dependent children and their age. Allowances are paid monthly.

It is the 2022 categorical net income that will be taken into account for 2024, i.e. all income (wages, property and movable income, agricultural profits, etc.) less expenses (support payments, care expenses for the elderly, etc.) and tax allowances (person over 65, disabled person, etc.).

This increase corresponds to the average annual development of the non-tobacco consumer prices of the reference calendar year.

Service-Public.fr offers you an online simulator to calculate your family allowance depending on your personal situation.

When your child turns 14 years of age, you receive a monthly increase starting in the calendar month following his or her birthday.

Children who turn 20 are no longer counted as dependent children. However, families with at least 3 children may, under certain conditions, receive the lump sum allowance until the month preceding the 21ste child's birthday.

Please note

Family allowances can be paid from the first child if you live in an overseas department (Dom).

You are entitled to family allowances from the month following the birth or reception of a second child, a third child, etc.

FYI

a degressive supplement shall be paid if the family's resources are only slightly above the ceiling applicable to it.
