4% increase in pensions and several allowances retroactive to 1er July, rent increases capped for one year, wage premiums, energy security devices... The main measures of the law for purchasing power are aimed at limiting the impact of inflation on the household budget.
The text, which has been enriched by parliamentarians, has three components: protection of the living standards of households, consumer protection and energy sovereignty. Its emergency measures represent €20 billion of expenditure, included in the 2022 amending budget, which includes other support measures (exceptional back-to-school assistance, continuation of the energy tariff shield, fuel rebate, etc.).
These measures are taking place in the context of rising consumer prices, and in particular energy prices as a result of the war in Ukraine. In July 2022, according to INSEE, inflation rose to 6.1% year-on-year, a level not reached since 1985. (Read more about the article).
