Water conservation
"Every Action Counts," the national campaign to save water
Publié le 08 juin 2023 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
Do not let water flow, make sure to optimize the cycles of washing machines, favor “eco” programs... so many actions that can contribute to sobriety in terms of water consumption. From June 3 to July 17, the national communication campaign “Every gesture counts, let's preserve our resources” raises awareness among French citizens about essential gestures. Service-Public.fr tell you more.
On the eve of the summer, when the available water resources are low and the country has already faced droughts, the government is launching a campaign to raise awareness about water conservation. It is part of the action plan for resilient and collaborative water management, presented in March 2023.
This plan, which proposes 53 measures, aims in particular to “improve the response to drought crises”, through 3 axes:
- organize the sobriety of uses for all actors;
- Maximize resource availability
- to preserve water quality.
The awareness campaign launched by the government is part of this plan and is aimed at all those who can participate in sobriety: individuals, communities, farmers, industrialists.
It puts forward 6 simple gestures to be adopted by all on a daily basis to reduce water consumption:
- settle a froth on the taps and a lean shower head;
- regularly check its water meter and repair leaks;
- take a shower (4-5 minutes) and avoid bathing;
- settle a rainwater collector to water the gardens;
- settle a drip to water the plants to minimize evaporation;
- maintain gardens with as little water as possible: put on plants that are water-efficient and drought-resistant.
FYI
on average in France, one person consumes every day 148 liters of water, of which 39% for personal hygiene.
