The PLA is a social benefit paid by the Fund for Family Allowances (Caf) to the smallest households. As every year on 1^er in october, it shall be upgraded on the basis of developments in the benchmark rent index the second quarter of the current year.

At 2^e quarter 2024, theIRL showed progress of 3.26% (in mainland France, Corsica and the overseas regions and departments). The PLA is expected to increase by 3.26% to 1^er October 2024, unless otherwise decided by the government.

In October 2023, the increase in the value of the PLA was 3.5% in mainland France, 2% in Corsica and 2.5% in overseas France.

Each APL request is customized. The amount of aid is calculated according to housing expenditure and resource parameters. In particular, the following elements shall be taken into account:

• the amount of your rent;
• the number of dependants usually living in your household;
• the amount of your resources and, where applicable, the amount of resources of the person with whom you live as a couple and of the persons usually living in your household;
• the value of your real estate and financial assets and, where applicable, the assets of the person with whom you live as a couple and the persons usually living in your household. This value is only taken into account if it is greater than €30,000.

The increase in the PLA is automatically applied by the Fund for Family Allowances (CAF) or the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA). Verify on your online account that the revaluation has been taken into account and that the discounted amount is paid.
