How does 3919 support women who are victims of violence?

3919, Violence Femmes Info, is the national reference number for listening to and providing guidance to women who are victims of violence (particularly domestic violence). Service-Public.fr informs you.

3919 provides a first reception for all women victims of gender-based violence. Depending on their situation, women are referred to local or national partner associations best able to provide a response or support.

Calls may involve all types of gender-based violence domestic violence, sexual violence, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, violence at work.

The 3919

The 3919 is:

  • a free and anonymous number;
  • a 24/7 number;
  • a number accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing ;
  • a mobile or landline number in mainland France and the overseas departments;
  • a team of professional headphones who provide information on how to deal with a situation of violence;
  • a number which also addresses the victims' entourage and the professionals concerned.

3919 offers listening in 12 different languages, in addition to french (people providing this service are only present on certain slots, you will be asked to call back at the appropriate times): english, arabic, creole, dari, spanish, hebrew, kabyle, mandarin, persian, polish, portuguese and turkish.

Solidarity Women

The 3919 is worn by the National Federation Solidarity Women and supported by the State Secretariat for Gender Equality.

Are you a victim of domestic violence? Do you know your rights?

The website of Solidarité Femmes informs you (what does the law say? the role of the lawyer, psychological harassment, the situation of foreign women, etc.) and tells you the procedure to follow in terms of procedures.

The Federation also relies on a network of 81 specialized associations spread over the whole territory that offers women:

  • accommodation arrangements or in specialized reception places;
  • more than 3,000 or more permanent emergency shelters (50% of places dedicated to women victims of violence in France);
  • day care and community centers (in hospitals, town halls, police stations, gendarmeries, etc.).

if there is an immediate threat of violence, the police, gendarmerie, or fire department should be called by calling 17 or the 18.
