Tobacco prices set to rise in 2024

After an increase in May, tobacco prices will increase again in early 2024.

At 1er in january 2024, the selling prices of tobacco products will increase. That is what is provided for in a decree in the Journal officiall December 12, 2023. It certifies the retail prices of manufactured tobacco in metropolitan France.

The increase differs between manufacturers and products. She can go up to €1 on a conventional 20-unit pack of cigarettes. The €12 mark for a pack of cigarettes is thus crossed.

Cigarettes, but also cigars, heating tobacco and rolling tobacco packages are concerned.

the 2023 Social Security Financing Act provides that tobacco taxation is henceforth linked to inflation in the previous year and no longer to inflation in year N-2.

Reminder

Customs oversees the regulation of the tobacco trade in France. Only licensed tobacco suppliers deliver these products to debtors. They can then retail them.
