How to use your holiday vouchers?
Publié le 03 juin 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
Train ride, hotel night, camping trip, entrance to leisure park or museums... as the summer season approaches, the vouchers allow you to pay for many services. You can also change your checks from paper to digital at any time (and vice versa).
The holiday voucher is a device of the National Association of Holiday Vouchers (ANCV) for social purposes. Throughout the year, it allows private sector employees and public officials to pay part of their holidays or leisure time, from service providers or online booking sites contracted by the ANCV. It can be used in France or in the European Union.
The holiday voucher is valid for 2 years.
Checks issued in 2024 are valid until December 31, 2026.
The holiday voucher may be in the form of:
- a check book in denominations of 10, 20, 25 and 50 € (Classic holiday voucher);
- or dematerialized for online use only (Connect holiday voucher).
You can exchange the Classic format for a Connect format or vice versa.
Warning
As of 1er January 2024, the SNCF will no longer accept paper holiday checks but only the dematerialized version.
FYI
At the end of validity, it is possible to exchange them until 31 March of the year following their expiry for the same amount, excluding processing and shipping costs (provided that the amount of the checks exceeds 30 €).
For example, if you have a security issued in 2022, it is valid until December 31, 2024, but you can exchange it until March 31, 2025.
Please note
The Family Allowance Funds also offer recipients, under means-tested conditions, a system of holiday vouchers. The amount varies according to the number of dependent children, and the contribution of the Caf depends on the family quotient. You can inquire at your local office.
Who can benefit?
All companies can offer holiday vouchers, but the arrangement is not obligatory for the employer, and the employee can also choose whether or not to purchase them.
Holiday vouchers are paid partly by the employer and partly by the employee. The employer's contribution may be made either by direct participation or by a grant to the Social and Economic Committee (ESC).
Your participation in holiday vouchers depends on the company in which you work. If you are a private sector employee, it will depend on your income and the number of dependent children. If you are a public official, your status and gross remuneration are taken into account.
To apply, you must contact:
- if you are a private employee : to your employer, your social and economic committee or your staff representatives;
- if you are a public official : to the Human Resources Directorate, the Staff Association or the National Social Action Committee.
To learn more about the conditions for issuing holiday vouchers based on your status, see the Service-Public.fr dedicated to the subject:

Reminder
since 1er october 2023, only active agents of the State civil service may have holiday vouchers. Pensioners who applied before that date can still get them.
FYI
one simulator proposed by the Department of Transformation and the Public Service allows you to check if you are eligible for vacation checks.
