18-year-olds: will you be able to vote in the parliamentary elections?

You just turned 18 or you're going to have them soon? Wondering if you will be able to vote in the next general election? Service-Public.fr explains everything to you.

In the metropolis of La Réunion, Mayotte, Wallis and Futuna, the parliamentary elections will be held on Sunday June 30, 2024. The second round, if necessary, is set for Sunday July 7, 2024.

To vote, you must be registered to vote. Such registration shall be automatic, provided that your citizen census. You can check your registration online.

Warning  

In Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, French Polynesia, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin or Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, election dates and registration deadlines differ.

Please note

if you were 18 years old before june 9, 2024, and you are not registered to vote, you will not be able to vote in the general election.

For the parliamentary elections, the deadline for voter registration is June 9, 2024. In some cases, you can register after this deadline:

  • you are born between 10 and 29 june 2006 : you are automatically registered to vote, provided you have completed your citizen census. If you are not registered, you have until June 20th included to make your application for registration in town hall.
  • you are born between 30 June and 6 July 2006 : you are automatically registered to vote, provided you have completed your citizen census. If you are not registered, you have until June 20th included to make your application for registration in town hall. You will only be able to vote in the second round of parliamentary elections.

Warning  

if you were born on or after 7 july 2006, you will not be able to vote in this election.

Please note

Automatic registration is done on the voters list of the place of residence you declared during your census. You can check the address of your polling station using the online service "Questioning Your Electoral Situation".

If you are absent on voting day, you can instruct a voter to vote for you.
