Car roadworthiness testing: online price comparison evolves

Publié le 16 septembre 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

Would you like to know the rates for technical inspection of centers near you or in another department in France? Check the new website for information on the price of technical controls. It allows you to find a certified center with interactive maps.

The technical inspection price site evolves and now offers interactive maps at scale:

  • national;
  • departmental;
  • or communal.

To quickly find the authorized center closest to you, you can do a search by:

  • municipality (you only need to enter the name of the municipality);
  • department (a drop-down list of all departments is available)
  • type of vehicle (private car, 4x4, van, camper of less than 3.5 tons, collector car);
  • energy (diesel, petrol, electric, hybrid, gas).

When viewing the result, you can view on the interactive map approved centers listed within a radius of 10 to 100 km.

You can also search for a center by its SIRET number.

Finally, you can report a non-compliant price display, via SignalConso.

The obligation for operators of roadworthiness test centers for light vehicles (cars and vans in particular) to transmit the price of their services has been introduced as from 2019. A decree issued in Official Journal on november 6, 2019, a platform was set up on which traders can enter the prices charged for a technical inspection. This site has been completely overhauled. The technical control centers had until September 4, 2024, to update their data through a more reliable, secure and ergonomic remote recording procedure.

Please note

Order of 29 July 2020 on the publication of the prices of roadworthiness tests for certain categories of light vehicles specifies the arrangements for the price of their periodic roadworthiness tests and counter-inspections to be displayed by the centers for roadworthiness tests for light vehicles and forwarded to the body designated by the Minister for Economic Affairs for on-line inspection.
