Driving license: France Identité generates your proof of identity for all your procedures

As of October 16, 2024, you can use France Identité to generate a single-use photo proof of identity for driving license applications. Explanations with Service-Public.fr.

The user can, when applying online for a driving license, activate a feature generating a one-time proof of identity with photo generated by the France Identity application.

The proof of identity is a PDF document electronically signed by the Ministry of Interior. It can prove your identity without communicating the visual of your ID. This service allows users to control the sharing of their personal data against fraud.

How do I proceed?

When applying online for a driving license, in the “Supporting documents” step, you will need to do the following:

  • click on the button “I add a proof of identity France Identité”;
  • scan the QR Code that appears on your computer screen (if you are on smartphone, click on “Generate the proof”;
  • Check the data displayed on the proof of identity.
  • scan the CAN of your ID card (6-digit code at the bottom left of your title);
  • enter your personal code France Identité (6-digit code entered by the user when he created his digital identity);
  • Do an NFC reading of your ID card.
  • the proof is generated: you can add it to your permit application process.

Please note

The free France Identité application is available on the site de France Identity and may be used provided that:

  • you had the new identity card (credit card format);
  • you are of age;
  • you have an Android 8 phone minimum and have NFC technology or iPhone iOS 16 minimum.

Reminder

Since February 14, 2024, you have the opportunity toimport your driver's license in the France Identité application and to present it in its dematerialized version during any roadside inspection. All types of licenses (three-pane pink or credit card format) are compatible.
