Household refuse

Info-sort: how to find your way around?

Publié le 04 octobre 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

You are lost in sorting your household waste: sorting tray, waste collection point, shop...? Info-sorting is a signage that explains how to sort your used products and everyday waste.

Sorting reduces the volume of waste to be treated (landfill or incineration). By giving a second life to your used packaging and devices (donation, reuse or recycling), you save resources needed to manufacture these products.

Info-sorting, what is it?

At a glance, theSort Info guides you through sorting your waste. Signage has been deployed on a large number of objects since 2022. As a general rule, it is found directly on the packaging or on the documents provided at the time of purchase (notice, guarantee...).

How do I read the Info-sort?

On the same line, you find:

  • first position: the triman, a logo that allows you to see immediately if a product should be sorted (donation, sorting tray, waste...);
  • second: the items that must be sorted;
  • and third: where you have to deposit them.

FYI

Your sofa (or any other product) has had its moment of glory but you want to get rid of it? Be aware that its life cycle can continue, being:

  • reused (extends its useful life);
  • fixed (in order to be given or resold and to make another person happy);
  • recycled (transformed into a new product).

Medicines, coffee capsules, sofa, furniture...: a Ecological Transition Agency (Ademe) simulator helps you know where to deposit them.
