Supplementary private pensions upgraded from 1 November 2024

Publié le 31 octobre 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

As an employee in the private sector, you receive a supplementary pension during your retirement, in addition to your basic pension paid by the Social Security. The Board of Directors of Agirc-Arrco decided, at a meeting held on 15 October 2024, to increase this supplementary retirement pension by 1.6% as from 1er November 2024.

If you are a private sector employee, you must contribute to the Agirc-Arco Supplementary Pension Plan. These contributions are then converted into retirement points; and when you retire, these points are converted into a retirement pension. Your Agirc-Arco pension is then added to your basic retirement pension from Social Security Pension Insurance.

Supplementary retirement pensions shall be subject to an annual revaluation. At their meeting on October 15, 2024, the representatives of the unions and employers' organizations making up the board of directors of the Agirc-Arrco decided to increase the amount of these pensions by 1.6%, effective on 1er November 2024.

The annual revaluation of basic pensions usually takes place on the 1ster January. The Government announced that the upgrading planned for 1er january 2025 will take place on 1er July 2025.

You can estimate the amount of your supplementary retirement pension on the Agirc-Arco website in your personal space.

Please note

A national inter-branch agreement of 5 October 2023 lays down the rules governing the operation of the Agirc-Arrco scheme for the period 2024-2026. According to that text, the level of Agirc-Arrco pensions must follow the evolution of consumer prices (excluding tobacco) estimated by INSEE for the current year, reduced by 0.4 points; the Agirc-Arrco board then has a margin of maneuver allowing it to adjust the expected evolution within the limit of an increase or a decrease of a maximum of 0.4 points.

For 2024, INSEE expects a price increase (excluding tobacco) of 1.8%, so the expected increase in supplementary pensions was 1.4% (up 1.8%, minus 0.4 percentage points). The Agirc-Arrco board therefore used its margin of maneuver to the tune of 0.2 percentage points (the planned increase of 1.4%, increased by 0.2 percentage points), and thus decided to increase the level of supplementary pensions by 1.6%.

Reminder

The supplementary retirement pensions of the Agirc-Arrco had been increased by 4.9% on 1er November 2023.
