What are the conditions for benefiting from the MaPrimeRénov’ scheme in 2025?

Publié le 09 décembre 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

MaPrimeRénov' is a state aid that allows you to finance the energy renovation of your home when you own, live in this property or offer it for rent. Terms of the scheme that were to apply until 31 December 2024 are being extended by one year. Moreover, the level of aid that may be received changes from 1er January 2025.

The MaPrimeRénov' device is divided into 2 axes:

  • MaPrimeRénov' Path by gesture, if you want to carry out one or more insulation, ventilation, heating...;
  • MaPrimeRénov' Accompanied route, if you are planning a major renovation.

Since May 15, 2024 you can benefit from MaPrimeRénov' Path by gesture to carry out simple works called single gesture (one energy renovation operation at a time) without being obliged to settle at the same time a heating system or decarbonized hot water.

This provision was to expire on December 31, 2024. A decree issued in Official Journal december 5, 2024, extends it to december 31, 2025. So it's only from the 1er January 2026 that you will need to change your heating or hot water production equipment to access this MaPrimeRénov’ route.

Two other modalities of MaPrimeRénov’ Parcours par gesture are similarly extended by one year. Until 31 December 2025:

  • you are not obliged to provide Energy Performance Diagnostic (EDP) to benefit from the scheme;
  • you can benefit from MaPrimeRénov' Path by gesture for work in a detached house classified “F” or “G” on the EPD (from 1er January 2026, for these so-called “thermal sieves” it will only be possible to request MaPrimeRénov' Parcours accompanied and thus carry out major renovation works).

Please note

From 1er January 2025, as part of MaPrimeRénov’ Path by Gesture, the cash advances provided to “very modest” households increase from 70% to 50% of the projected amount of assistance.

Reminder

The list of works and services eligible for MaPrimeRénov’ Parcours par gesture is not exactly the same if your accommodation is located in metropolitan France or if it is located overseas. Among the benefits eligible for the scheme are:

  • work on heating and domestic hot water (installation of a self-feeding boiler using wood or other biomass...);
  • the installation of a self-adjusting or self-adjusting double-flow controlled mechanical ventilation (VMC) system;
  • thermal insulation (insulation of walls in front or pinion, insulation of roof creeks and roof ceilings...).

You can find on our MaPrimeRénov' factsheet a table with all the works eligible for the scheme depending on the geographical location of your accommodation (in metropolitan France or overseas).

An evolution of the aid ceilings from 1 January 2025

When you use the MaPrimeRénov' accompanying scheme (intended to finance major renovation work on your home), a funding ceiling is set which represents the total amount of renovation aid you can receive (MaPrimeRénov' aid plus public aid from local authorities and private aid).

To determine your ceiling, a rate is applied to the total amount of your work eligible for MaPrimeRenovation’, which differs depending on your level of resources (you can see if you are part of a household with very modest, modest, intermediate or higher incomes) on our “MaPrimeRénov'” factsheet, under the heading ‘What are the conditions for benefiting from MaPrimeRenovation’).

As of 1er january 2025, this rate will be:

  • 80%, if you are part of a middle-income household (you will therefore be responsible for 20% of the amount of your work) - currently, the capping rate is 60%;
  • 50%, if you are part of a household with a higher income (you will therefore be responsible for 50% of the amount of your work) - currently, the capping rate is 40%.

If you are in a household with a very modest income, the capping rate is currently 100%; it will remain at the same level. By combining MaPrimeRénov'-related aid with other public and private aid, you can therefore benefit from full support for financing your renovation work.

If you are in a low-income household, the capping rate is 80%, so you still have to pay 20% of the cost of your work.

Please note

As of 1er January 2025, under MaPrimeRénov' Parcours avec, the level of aid paid only by the MaPrimeRénov' scheme decreases for households with higher resources, passing:

  • from 30 % to 10 % of the amount of eligible work, for projects allowing a gain of 2 classes at the EPD;
  • from 35 % to 15 % of the amount of eligible work, for projects with a gain of 3 classes at the EPD;
  • from 35 % to 20 % of the amount of eligible work, for projects with a gain of 4 or more classes at the EPD.
