My Master: the admission procedure is modified for alternance candidates

Have you applied for a master's degree in alternation via the My Master platform? The examination of applications starts on March 31 and a decree changes the admission procedure for candidates moving towards this type of training in the first year of the master's degree. Service-Public.fr informs you.

A ranking rank is introduced during the main phase

The first-year application phase of the national master's degree, via the platform My Master, ended on 24 March.

The next steps for student candidates are:

  • from 31 March to 29 April: examination of applications;
  • from 2 May to 16 June: admission phase.

A decree of 19 February 2025 modifies the treatment of alternating applications and introduces a new criterion. Obtaining a " ranking " becomes mandatory for the student to be placed in "contract search". This rank is assigned to applications that meet the expectations of the requested training. For the 2025-2026 campaign, “only candidates who have received a ranking are placed in contract search,” the text states.

Previously, alternance applications submitted in the main phase were either registered as “contract search” or refused, without taking into account a ranking.

Reminder

It is possible to send in the My Master platform 15 wishes in initial training and 15 wishes in alternance training. Wishes are not prioritized.

The stages of admission in alternation

From 2 May : if your application meets the training expectations, the examination board now assigns you a ranking and you receive a contract search placement. If your application does not meet the expectations, you will receive a refusal (you can see the reason for refusal).

You must immediately search for a company in order to deposit the contract of alternation (or a certificate of commitment) on the platform as soon as possible. You can submit a contract for each contract search placement awarded.

Note that it is only after the validation of this contract by the institution that you obtain an “admission proposal”, “subject to the ranking and the reception capacities offered in the training concerned”.

June 13-16 : you can receive an admission proposal or be placed on a waiting list (depending on your ranking and available places).

From 17 June : if you are still looking for a contract, you can participate in the follow-up phase by ranking all your applications in order of preference. This gives you more time to submit your contract to the platform

July 17 to August 31 : If you are still on a waiting list or looking for a contract, you will participate in the "opt-out management" phase.

Please note

Once the company contract has been validated by the establishment, you will be able to respond to the admission offers in 3 different ways, within a limited time. Viewing Information to Respond to Admission Proposals.

The decree of 19 February 2025 also specifies that, at the end of the complementary phase, if there are still places for training (alternating or not), institutions can recruit outside the national platform.

Moreover, if the capacity for work-linked training is not reached, candidates who have not been able to submit a company contract in time may start training (under the conditions laid down by the Labor Code), subject to their rank. They are then informed directly by the establishment.
