Your child is in middle school and you wonder about his orientation? Accompaniment, guidance decisions: here is the information to know about the orientation of your child from 6e at 3e.
6th
In the school
You and your child can get advice from their principal teacher.
You can also make an appointment with the guidance counselor-psychologist of national education who regularly participate in colleges.
Outside the school
You and your child can go to a information and guidance centre (IOC).
Who shall I contact
You can also go to a youth information and documentation centre (CIDJ). This structure welcomes and informs young people free of charge on all the subjects that interest them, particularly on career choices and working life.
Who shall I contact
At 2e in the trimester, you ask for your child to be upgraded or to repeat his or her studies.
The class council responds to them on an interim basis.
If you are not satisfied with the answer, a dialog will take place between you and the principal teacher.
At 3e quarter, you want to have a definitive orientation.
The class council responds by taking into account your child's balance sheet. Two types of decisions can be made:
- The advice is in accordance with your request. The proposal is then yours notified.
- The board disagrees with your request. You are then offered an interview with the head of the establishment. If this interview does not lead to an agreement, the head of the school notifies you of his decision, stating the reasons. You have 3 working days to appeal that decision to an appeal board.
The Appeal Board shall be chaired by the Dasen: titleContent and includes school leaders, teachers, parents, and education and guidance staff.
You and your child can ask to be heard by the commission.
The decision of the appeal board is the final direction decision.
Repetition may be pronounced when a pedagogical support device has not made it possible to put an end to the major learning difficulties of a pupil.
A repetition must be accompanied by specific educational measures for the pupil (setting up a personalized educational achievement program for example).

Your child can repeat once during his or her education, before the end of the college. If your child has interrupted his or her education, a 2nde decision on repetition may be taken after the prior agreement of the Dasen: titleContent.
In addition, your child chooses the 2e foreign or regional language that will start in 5e.

One personal orientation interview is organized by the head teacher. You participate with your child.
This interview allows you to learn about the channels and possible outlets. It also allows you to set out the steps and steps needed to prepare your child's orientation.

The class council in turn makes interim policy proposals.
If you disagree with the proposals, there is a dialog between you and the education team.
1- Final wishes for guidance and assignment
At 3e quarter, you formulate final wishes for guidance on a dialog sheet submitted by the College. You can also do this online by using the Orientation online service. You can connect to it from the EduConnect portal.
Before the class council, you also have to make your assignment greetings. It is a question of specifying your choices of training and establishments. To do this, you complete the assignment request file sent by the college. You can also do this online by using the Assignment online service. You can connect to it from the EduConnect portal.
FYI
As of the 2024 school year, your child can benefit from the control device la pre-second class. This class is for second-graders (general and technological or vocational) who have not obtained the National Patent Diploma (DNB).

The decision of the appeal board shall be policy decision definitive.
When your wishes for guidance are not accepted, you can get your child to stay in his or her original class for the duration of a single school year.
The allocation decision is taken by the Dasen. It shall take into account in particular the guidance decision taken by the class board and the number of places available in the establishments.
In making its decision, the Dasen relies on Affelnet-Lycée National App.
The procedure ends at the end of June. The results of the assignment are then disseminated on the website of your academy.
