Your child is in middle school or high school and would like to know what the functions of the class council ? Composition, role, organization, conduct, decisions: here is the information to know about the class board.

The rules are different in middle school and high school.

In middle school

At the colleague, the class council is responsible for monitoring and evaluating your child's achievements.

The class board is composed of the following members:

  • Head of the establishment that presides over it
  • Classroom teachers
  • 2 student delegates
  • 2 parents' delegates
  • Senior Education Advisor (SCE)
  • National Education Psychologist
  • School doctor, social worker or nurse, when the board is to consider a student's personal case.

The class council shall meet at least 3 times in the year, at the initiative of the head of the establishment.

All the members of the board are invited to attend. Summonses do not have to be registered.

The class council first examines the general situation of the class and then the situation of each student.

1- Study of the general situation of the class

The principal teacher or a representative of the teaching team presents, first of all, an overall assessment of the class. It then sets out the guidance provided by the educational team.

The CPE: titleContent takes stock of the situation regarding absenteeism and school life.

The parents' representatives and class delegates ask questions or make comments on all aspects of the life of the class (controls, homework, replacement of a teacher...). Parent delegates can also share information from other parents.

2- Study of the situation of each student

The class council examines the course of each pupil's schooling (results and assessments of teachers for all subjects, need of support) to better accompany him in his school journey.

Delegates note all information about each student. They can step in to support a student.

Classroom delegates and delegates of parents of pupils remain in the room when their or their child's schooling is discussed.

Please note

from class of 4e, your child may be invited to participate in the presentation of their situation during the class council.

The class council shall agree on a general assessment to be entered on the periodic review of your child. Rules and regulations It may assign a reference to it in the encouragement, congratulations).

If your child feels that he or she is having difficulty with school, he or she may suggest that a support system be set up.

Repetition must be exceptional. It can be pronounced when a pedagogical support device has not made it possible to put an end to your child's significant learning difficulties.

The decision of repetition is yours notified. You have 3 working days to let the school principal know if you accept this decision, or if you decide to appeal to an appeal board.

The Appeal Board shall be chaired by the Dasen: titleContent and includes school leaders, teachers, parents, and education and guidance staff.

You and your child (with your consent) may request to be heard by the Commission.

The decision of the appeal board is the final direction decision.

A repetition must be accompanied by specific educational measures for the pupil (through a personalized educational achievement program for example).

End of year of 3e, the class council makes you a proposal for guidelines.

the class council is an educational body. It's not a disciplinary body. He cannot therefore make a decision penalty.

The parents' representatives receive the same documents as the other members of the class board.

Each parent representative must report on the class board in which he or she is participating.

It must, however respect the confidentiality principle. Thus, the report cannot refer to individual cases or name the pupils.

The conditions for the dissemination of these reports are defined in consultation between the school director and the parents' associations.

In high school

In high school, the class council is responsible for monitoring and evaluating your child's achievements.

at vocational high school, the class council meets at least 2 times in the year, at the initiative of the head of the establishment.
