What are the allowances due to sitting jurors?

Verified 09 April 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

A jury of assize is entitled to several compensatory payments. Some allowances are intended to cover the loss of employment income during the trial. Others are used to cover the cost of attending sessions of the court of sitting: meals, travel and accommodation.

As a jury, you are entitled to a summons. The amount of this allowance shall be €99.20 per day.

The cost of attendance shall not be paid automatically. It must be requested in writing from the imprest account of the court or the Court of Appeal. It must be sent by post or by email.

Please note

In practice, the application may be sent to the registry of the Cour d'Assises, which will in turn forward it to the imprest account.
