In what cases does the death of the insured not lead to the payment of life insurance?
Verified 03 February 2022 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
If you are the designated beneficiary of a life insurance contract, you must receive the premium following the death of the insured.
However, there are 2 cases in which you will not receive the money:
- The insured commits suicide during the firstera contract year
- You are sentenced in court for having voluntarily given death to the insured or to the subscriber (in general, the subscriber is also the insured). If other persons have been designated as beneficiaries, they will be able to receive the capital provided for in the contract.
Suicide (Article L132-7), beneficiary convicted of having voluntarily given death to the insured (Article L132-24)
