What to do when you have lost ownership of your home?

You own it, you've lost your deed of ownership and you want to know how to get a copy of this act? Who to talk to? Does this copy cost money? We're taking stock of where we're going.

You can request a copy of your deed of ownership with the notary or to the land advertising and registration service.

Application to notary

The notary keeps the original of your deed of ownership, this is called the minute.

You can contact your notary's study to get a copy of that document.

You will be charged for unarchiving and copying. These fees vary according to the studies.

Application to the Land Advertising and Registration Service

The copy request changes depending on the registration period before or after 1er january 1956 in the registers of the land registration and advertising services.

Purchase from 1956

The Land Advertising and Registration Service is an administrative and tax service where notarial acts are registered.

You can obtain a copy of your deed of ownership from the property advertising and registration department on which your property depends.

Copying is not free (€6 to €30 depending on the type of document).

The request is made by a form preferably sent by registered letter with notice of receipt.

Copy of documents (bill of sale, donation, joint ownership settlement...) registered after January 1, 1956
