Refusal of car insurance: what to do?

If no insurance company wants to insure your car, you can enter the Central Pricing Bureau (BCT).
This body may require a company to insure you for the mandatory liability guarantee. In this case, the BCT sets the contract rate itself.
The insurer may refuse to offer you other guarantees apart from compulsory insurance.
Step-by-step approach
After the refusal of your insurance application, you must ask the insurer for 2 copies of the printed form called insurance proposal.
Your insurer cannot refuse to provide you with this document.
You must then address the registered office of the insurer a completed copy, registered with acknowledgement of receipt. Keep the other copy as evidence.
Carte grise You must attach to the mail an information statement from the former insurance company and a photocopy of your certificate of registration) and your driving license.
You must also ask the company to provide you with a quote for this compulsory insurance, with the amount of the premium and the surcharges applied.
The insurance business is obliged to issue you the quote.
If the business refuses to insure you for the compulsory civil liability guarantee or if they do not respond to you within 15 days of receiving your request, you can enter the TCO.
A registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt or an electronic registered mail must be sent to the OCT.

The mail must be accompanied by the following documents:
- 2eme completed copy of document insurance proposal
- Acknowledgement of receipt by the insurance of the mail you sent him
- Quote provided by the insurance company and its letter of refusal to insure you (if these documents have been sent to you)
- Carte grise Photocopy of your driver's license
- Former insurance company information statement
- Last notice of the expiry of your contract
- In the event of a conviction for driving under the influence of prohibited substances, a copy of the judicial decision
The BCT sets the amount of the contribution and informs you. The BCT shall also inform the insurer.
The decision is taken within about 2 months.
You must respond to the BCT to notify them of your agreement by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt.
You will then have to pay the insurance business that will insure your car.
