Ombudsman of France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi): how can it be used?

If you encounter difficulties with the services of France Travail (removal from the list of jobseekers, overpayment of unemployment benefits, for example), you can enter the France Travail mediator if you are:
- Job-seeker
- Employer
- Partner France Travail in the implementation of the public employment service.
Before contacting the mediator, you must send a complaint to the relevant department of France Travail.

If the service's reply does not settle the dispute, the mediator may be seized.
The application must describe the subject matter of the dispute and provide the necessary supporting documents.

The mediator of France Travail examines your request and seeks amicable solutions.
If your complaint is not accepted, the mediator of France Travail must inform you of the reasons for its refusal.

For some decisions rendered by France Travail, prior referral to the regional ombudsman is mandatory in order to subsequently be able to refer the case to the administrative judge if the disagreement persists after mediation. This is particularly the case for:
- Decisions imposing penalties, ceasing to register or transferring a category
- Decisions on certain allowances paid by France Travail (specific solidarity allowance, allocation of youth employment contract)
- Claims for repayment of overpaid public benefits.
