Conversion premium to replace a vehicle: rules before june 2020

Part of the territory of a community with limited access for the most polluting vehicles. The ZFE replaced the restricted area (ZCR).
Registration of a vehicle obtained after a 1re provisional registration, where the technical and administrative file is complete
In a state of financial irreparability (the amount of repairs is greater than the value of the insured vehicle)
Light commercial vehicle of less than 3.5 tons designed and constructed for the transport of goods. The vehicle registration certificate shall indicate the type CTTE.
Vehicle combining 2 energy storage, one of which is electric. For example, thermal motor (diesel or petrol) + electric motor.
Additional cases ?
You may qualify, subject to conditions, for a conversion premium when you buy or lease a low-emission vehicle if, at the same time, you scrap an old diesel or petrol vehicle. The new vehicle can be a private car, a van, or an electric 2-wheel (or 3-wheel or electric quadricycle). This premium is in addition to the aid ecological bonus.. This page shows the rules in force before June 2020.
What applies to you ?
Tax reference income ⩽ 13 489 € per share
You must meet the following conditions:
- Residency in France
- The benchmark tax income per share shown on the previous year's tax notice is less than or equal to €13,489 (tax notice 2019 on your 2018 income)
- Buy or rent a vehicle before June 2020. The rules are different from June to 2 August and from 3 August 2020.. The date of invoice, or payment of 1to rent in case of rental, lets know which rule applies.
Please note
the aid is paid at most once per person up to 1to January 2023.
Petrol vehicle
The vehicle to be destroyed must meet the following conditions:
- Be a passenger car (VP) or a van (CTTE)
- Have been subject to a 1re registration before January 1997
- Belonging to the beneficiary of the premium for at least 1 year
- Be registered in France in a normal series or with a final registration number
- Not to be won
- Not considered a damaged vehicle or be covered by an insurance contract valid for at least 1 year from the date of its delivery for destruction or the date of invoice for the vehicle acquired or leased
- Be delivered for destruction within 3 months prior to or 6 months after the new vehicle is billed to a Authorized end-of-life vehicle center (VHU) or an approved facility for the cleaning and dismantling of end-of-life vehicles
Diesel vehicle
The vehicle to be destroyed must meet the following conditions:
- Be a passenger car (VP) or a van (CTTE)
- Have been subject to a 1re registration before January 2006
- Belonging to the beneficiary of the premium for at least 1 year
- Be registered in France in a normal series or with a final registration number
- Not to be won
- Not considered a damaged vehicle or be covered by an insurance contract valid for at least 1 year from the date of its delivery for destruction or the date of invoice for the vehicle acquired or leased
- Be delivered for destruction within 3 months prior to or 6 months after the new vehicle is billed to a Authorized end-of-life vehicle center (VHU) or an approved facility for the cleaning and dismantling of end-of-life vehicles
FYI
since june 2020, if you do not scrap your old vehicle, you can benefit from a aid, so-called electric retrofit premium, under conditions, by converting the heat engine into an electric motor.
Private car or van
The following vehicles are concerned:
- Private car (VP) and electric van (CTTE) (with CO2 emissions not exceeding 20 g/km)
- VP or CTTE with CO2 emissions of 144 g/km or less, classified as electric, or Air Crit 1, or Air Crit 2 .. Crit'air 2 must be registered after 1to September 2019.
However, the threshold of 144g/km is replaced by the threshold of 116g/km for the following TOPs or ETTEs: vehicle registered before March 2020, vehicle registered abroad before being registered in France.
The vehicle must meet the following conditions:
- Be purchased or leased (with an option to purchase or for a period of at least 2 years)
- Have an acquisition cost of €60,000 TTC: titleContent maximum (including the cost of purchasing or leasing the battery, if necessary)
- Be registered in France with a final number
- Not considered a damaged vehicle
- Do not be sold within 6 months of purchase or before traveling at least 6,000 km
2 or 3 wheels or quadricycle
The vehicle purchased or hired must be a 2-wheel, 3-wheel or electric quadricycle:
- without lead battery,
- and whose maximum net engine power is at least 2 or 3 kW: titleContent (according to the applicable European standard)
The vehicle must meet the following conditions:
- Be purchased or leased (with an option to purchase or for a period of at least 2 years)
- Have an acquisition cost of €60,000 TTC: titleContent maximum (including the cost of purchasing or leasing the battery, if necessary)
- Be registered in France with a final number
- Not considered a damaged vehicle
- Not sold within one year after its 1re registration or before having traveled at least 2 000 km

Depending on the date of approval of the vehicle, the applicable European standard is Directive 2002/24/EC or Regulation EU 168/2013. See the gray card (now known as the "Type-approval number") (K) certificate of registration) of your vehicle to find out which standard it is approved to.

reference tax income (RFR) must be reported as the number of tax shares shown on your tax notice. For example, for an RFR of €15,000 and a tax center of 3 shares, the PFR per share is €5,000.. The condition of a LCP per share less than €6,300 is therefore filled.
2 or 3 wheels or electric quadricycle, without lead battery
The amount of the conversion premium is €1,100 subject to the purchase cost of the vehicle provided that the vehicle is new and subject to the electric power of the vehicle.
The maximum aid that can be granted (conversion premium + bonus) is €4,000..
Car or van with CO2 emissions between 21 g/km and 144 g/km
There is no bonus for these vehicles.

The reference tax income (RFR) must be reported as the number of tax shares shown on your tax notice. For example, for an RFR of €15,000 and a tax center of 3 shares, the PFR per share is €5,000.. The condition of a LCP per share less than €6,300 is therefore filled.

since june 2020, you benefit from a premium if you live or work in a low-emission zone mobility (ZFE) and territorial community paid you a fee to buy or rent a vehicle clean.. The amount of the premium shall be the same as the aid paid by the territorial authority, up to €1,000..
If the dealer does not advance the premium, you must apply online.
You 6 months from the date your new vehicle was billed to submit your application, or, in the case of a rental, from the 1to rent.
Before you begin entering your application, you must have at least the following:
- Certificate of registration (gray card) of the vehicle acquired or rented in your name
- Old vehicle scrapped gray card (if you declare one)
- RIB: titleContent
Application for payment of the ecological bonus and the conversion bonus
Warning
regardless of the number of vehicles handed over for destruction, only one conversion premium is paid for the purchase or rental of a vehicle.
Tax reference income > 13 489 € per share
