Verified 06 June 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
What applies to you ?
Are you a family caregiver and are you wondering about your tax situation? You have to declare the sums received if this activity is salaried. But if you're just a family caregiver and you're compensated, it's not taxable, so you don't have to declare it. We'll tell you what you need to know.
Employee caregiver
If you are an employed caregiver of a person with a disability or a loss of independence, you must declare the income you receive for this activity.
You have to report your income to the tax department if you are resident in France or your tax domicile is in France.
You have to report your family caregiver income in the family caregiver class Wages.
The declaration shall be obligatory, regardless of your income.
So you have to fill it out even if you've received only limited resources.
You can get:
- A non-taxation notice, necessary to benefit from certain aids (e.g. housing aid),
- The refund of tax credits you are entitled to.
You must not realize only one declaration of income by tax shelter.
The income and expenses of all members of your tax household are therefore taken into account when establishing a single tax.
