Medical examinations of the child: compulsory examinations - Up to 6 years

The content of these examinations shall cover the following points:

  • Growth Curve
  • Physical, mental and behavioral development
  • Child's emotional life
  • Screening for sensory (sight, hearing) and psychic (examples: anxiety) disorders, speech disorders, and neurodevelopment disorders
  • Vaccinations (verification of vaccination status, practice of compulsory and recommended vaccinations and possibly administration of preventive treatments for childhood diseases)
  • Health-promoting behaviors and environments (e.g. physical activity, sports, screen exposure)
  • Respect of dental follow-up.

These tests help ensure that

  • Good child health
  • And refer parents for further care if needed.

Mandatory examinations

Within 8 days of birth

1 exam

At the end of this examination, the doctor completes the 1st health certificate.

During the 2e week

1 exam

Between 1 month and 5 months

At 8 months

At the end of this examination, the doctor completes the 2nd health certificate.

At 11 months

At 12 months

Between 16 and 18 months

1 exam

Between 23 and 24 months

1 exam

At the end of this examination, the doctor completes the 3rd health certificate.

Between 2 years and 5 years

4 tests (once a year)

The results of these tests are listed in the child's health record.

Please note

A medical visit is organized at the nursery school for children aged 3 to 4 years.

Examinations are done either by the attending physician of the child, or by another doctor chosen by the parents working in town or in the PMI.

Consultations for these mandatory examinations are reimbursed to 100%, without advance payment for parents, except overpayment of fees.

These consultations are also fully supported for the beneficiaries of State medical assistance (AME).
