Covid-19 and childcare: What consequences for parents?

Your child has tested positive for COVID-19 or is declared a case contact? Depending on your child's age, you may have to stop working to keep him or her. Telework, sick child leave,...: the device to be retained varies according to your professional situation.

Your child under 16 or disabled (regardless of age) has tested positive for COVID-19?

If you need to keep it, you can:

  • telework, in agreement with your employer,
  • or place a sick child leave. You must provide a medical certificate stating that your child is ill in order to benefit from this leave and send it to your employer as soon as possible.

Warning  

As of 31 July 2022, the partial activity scheme for employees who have child-care responsibilities and are unable to work remotely has been terminated.

If you need to keep it, you can:

  • telework, in agreement with your employer,
  • or request a sick child leave. You must provide a medical certificate stating that your child is ill in order to benefit from this authorization and transmit it to your employer as soon as possible.

Warning  

Since 31 July 2022, the special absence authorization (Asa) scheme for public officials who are required to care for their children and cannot work remotely has been terminated.

The derogating mechanism which made it possible to benefit from a work stoppage waiting period has been deleted.
