Which city planning authorization for an enlargement or elevation?

An enlargement or elevation created on the surface that changes the exterior appearance of a building. An Advance Work Declaration (AD) or Building Permit (PC) is required. We are introducing the regulations.

Construction in an urban area of a PLU

The choice of city planning authorization depends on the building surface.

Creation of more than 5 m² and 40 m² or less

An extension of more than 5 m² is subject to DP when sound ground right-of-way or its floor area are less than or equal to 40 m².

Depending on whether the project is located in Paris or in another municipality, the application must be submitted:

  • By dematerialized according to the provisions adopted by the municipality (see the site of the town hall or on the spot)
  • By letter RAR: titleContent

The RFP form varies depending on whether the project is a detached house or another type of construction.

Creation of more than 40 m²

The project is subject to PC when sound ground right-of-way or its floor area is more than 40 m².

If the extension brings the total floor area of the building to more than 150 m² after the work, the use of an architect is required to deposit the PC.

Depending on whether the project is located in Paris or in another municipality, the application must be submitted:

  • By dematerialized according to the provisions adopted by the municipality (see on the site of the town hall or on the spot)
