How can I be approved to become a childminder?

To become a licensed childminder and keep children in your home, you must obtain a license. This approval is issued by the department's departments. In particular, it specifies the number of children who can be cared for by the childminder. How to apply for approval? Is training required to obtain accreditation? To obtain approval, you must first authorize the publication of your identity and contact information.

This training is free of charge. It is organized and funded by the Department's services.
Content
The training shall enable the childminder to acquire the following skills and knowledge:
- Psycho-affective and physical safety, including training in first aid, hygiene care, child comfort, continuity of the benchmarks between family life and reception mode, support for the child in his development, development, awakening, socialization and autonomy
- Rights and duties of the profession, the contractual relationship with the employer and other professionals providing care for the young child, the measures necessary to ensure the safety and protect the physical and mental health of the maternal assistant
- Early childhood care facilities, legal, sociological and institutional framework for the child, the family and knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the childminder in the area of child safety, health and development

Please note
You may be exempted from this training if you have the certificate of professional competence Early childhood educational support. On the other hand, a waiver cannot be granted for training related to first aid and child-care facilities.
Duration
The total duration of the training is 120 hours. These hours shall be allocated as follows:
Before the child is taken in
The first 80 hours training shall be provided within 6 months upon receipt of the complete application form for the approval of a childminder.
This period may be extended to 8 months in departments which have granted approval to a maximum of 100 new childminders during the year.
An assessment of learning outcomes shall be carried out by the department or a training organization.
Validating the 1re Part of the training shall be deemed to be authorization to receive a child.
After the child is taken in
The Last 40 hours training shall be provided within 3 years maximum from the reception of 1er child.
An assessment of learning outcomes shall be carried out by the department or a training organization.
Validation of the 2e part of the training will result in a certificate of follow-up of the 2 training courses.
The address for filing the application varies depending on whether you are in Paris or in another municipality.

The Department's services regularly organize information meetings on the profession of childminder.
Before applying for accreditation, it is recommended to attend one of these meetings to allow you to better know the conditions of practice of the trade.
The service has 3 months to process your request.
The statement includes the following steps:
- Review your application file
- One or more interviews
- Making one or more visits to your home
The service uses a criteria grid to verify that you meet the conditions for approval.
The service may ask you to provide documents concerning your accommodation (for example, a certificate of maintenance of your boiler).

The Department's services must request an extract from Bulletin No. 2 of the criminal record of each adult living in the home of the maternal assistant.
The decision shall be sent to you within 3 months of receipt of your complete application.
If you do not receive a reply within this period, the approval is deemed to have been granted.
Approval is granted for 5 years. A certificate is issued.
If approval is refused, notification specify the grounds for, and possibilities and time limits for, bringing an action.
The approval determines the number of children that can be cared for by the childminder. It shall select the number of children to be cared for within the limit of such approval.

During regular reception hours, the total number children under 11 years of age under the sole responsibility of the childminder may not exceed 6. The number of children under the age of 3 shall not exceed 4. The children of the family are counted.
The number of children accommodated can be increased in case of need temporary, punctual or specific .

Overflow for temporary requirement
The childminder can accommodate 2 additional children if the approval decision allows it.
This reception will be provided under the following conditions:
- Under his sole responsibility
- Up to 55 days per calendar year

This reception will be provided under the following conditions:
- Under the exclusive responsibility of the childminder
- Up to 50 hours per month
- Under adequate security conditions

If this possibility is not provided for in the accreditation decision, the childminder may submit a written request to the department's services at any time.
Department services reply in writing within 3 months.
The childminder shall inform the department's services within 48 hours.
The mode of information (mail, dematerialized channel, etc.) is determined by these services.
This information relates to legal representatives. It shall include the names, postal and e-mail addresses and telephone numbers
It shall also specify the dates and times at which the child is to be received.
The childminder should also inform the parents or legal representatives children who are usually in care.

Overflow for a specific requirement
Maternity Warden must send a written request At least 2 weeks before the reception at the department's services.

To be granted, your renewal application must be accompanied by the following documents:
- Certificate of validation of training hours, obtained on the occasion of the initial application for approval
- Certificate of acceptance of at least 1 child during the initial period of approval
- Documents justifying an approach to continuous improvement of professional practice
- Documents justifying participation in tests evaluating the acquisition of child-care skills
If you do not receive a response within this time period 2 months, the renewal of the approval shall be deemed to have been granted.
It shall be granted for a period of 5 years.
Approval shall be renewed for a period of 10 years where the childminder certifies success in the tests for the acquisition of child-care skills.
